Today's Chicago Tribune features a scathing editorial attacking Gov. George Ryan's proposed capital improvement program for community colleges. Among the paper's claims:

But reality is that none of them (community colleges) is in dire financial straits, and some of them are fatter than hogs. The community college board has seen its budget increase 11 percent since fiscal year 1999.

ICCTA is urging trustees, presidents, and friends of community colleges to contact the Tribune ASAP and protest its incorrect portrayal of our colleges' capital needs. Letters should be sent to:
